The Monitoring Process

Once the donor begins fertility medications and until she is ordered by your physician to administer the HCG (trigger) shot, her response to the fertility medications will need to be monitored through either blood-work or trans-vaginal ultra-sound or both.

The donor will be directed to report to the clinic for a base-line blood draw or ultra-sound immediately prior to the start of the medications and then once she has begun administering the drugs she will be called into the clinic either daily or at the clinic's discretion so that the physician can determine, first if the donor is safely responding to the stimulation and then to assess if the donor's ovarian stimulation is progressing at an acceptable rate. The physician will order the donor to continue to administer a dosage of the fertility medications relative to the results of the blood-draw and/or the ultra-sounds.

If the donor is not local to your clinic and if the clinic agrees, the donor may opt to monitor at a clinic near to her home and the results of the monitoring will be transmitted to your physician for review. If your clinic policy prohibits remote monitoring, then the donor will need to travel to your clinic and you may be required to provide both travel and lodging for the donor though-out the monitoring until the day following the retrieval.
