Approximately 7-10 days after the start of the stimulation medications and at that point when the recipient's physician determines that the your ovaries have reached appropriate stimulation, you will be directed to administer the HCG or trigger shot and the egg retrieval will be scheduled approximately 48 hours after the HCG.
On the day of the retrieval, you will report to the clinic early in the morning, usually between 7:00 and 10:00 a.m. You should discuss with the clinic what the retrieval process will entail. The retrieval is usually done trans-vaginally with an anesthetic and the discomfort is usually minimal.
According to clinic policy, you must be accompanied by a companion at the retrieval. The companion will be responsible for escorting you home and administering care, as needed, following the retrieval. If you do not have a companion to be with you, Prospective Families will arrange for a nurse companion and the recipients will be billed for this service. Immediately following the retrieval and as per the terms of the Egg Donor Agreement, you will have met all of your obligations to the recipients, regardless of egg production or fertilization results, and the agency will direct the Escrow Manager to pay you the remainder of your compensation.
If you have traveled from out of town for the retrieval, the recipients, through the agency, will be responsible to pay for your hotel accommodations for you and your companion through the day after the retrieval.
